This was a great movie. It's from the same director that did Moonrise Kingdom and The Royal Tenenbaums.
The story follows a concierge and an apprentice lobby boy at a high end hotel in a fictional town in central/eastern Europe. Gustav, the concierge, is highly devoted to his job, but he also has a side hobby. He romances the older ladies that come visit the hotel and has built up a roster of devoted women. One of the women ends up being murdered and Gustav comes to find out she left him something valuable in her will. However, her family has a say in the whole thing and that is where the story begins to take off.
The movie has a quirky dark humor tone. It really makes you feel like you're on an emotional ride with the characters. Ralph Fiennes(Lord Voldemort) plays the lead role, but there are a ton of smaller parts played by known actors. Some of the appearances are William Defoe, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jude Law, and Ed Norton to name a few.
Visually this movie is amazing and could be seen just for that alone. The rich bright colors and the cast wardrobes breathe life into the film. It really is a work of art.
This will be on top 10 best film lists by the end of the year.
