I recently re-watched the OG series and was 
One of my favorite shows as a kid but it just didn't hold up for me.
Though looks like the folks from 30 Rock are writing so I'm willing to give it a shot.

I hope it’s in the vein of cobra Kai where the jokes aren’t just remember berries and making fun of the past with a consistent tone but the og material is treated with some respect .

Friends forever...except the black girl and the nerd huh? Ironic because Screech was the one brought in to keep the New Class alive. I get Screech is in jail and Lisa had her issues but you could still have some reference to them. Maybe you have to watch the show for it, but as of now it's fukked up to just ignore 2/3 of the cast. I wonder if Principal Perv will be included?
Did they show every Zack scene?
His appearances were limited due to his commitment to Mixed-ish. Couldn't they have included the LGBTQ without making the Kelly of this show trans? Then we turn around have all the black and latin kids from the hood? 
Cobra Kai stands on it's own. The connection to Karate Kid just takes it up a notch. That's what they have to do here...make something that stands on it's own and add in the nostalgia to take it over the top.
