:wow:

:picard: Took the horns out completely

Krit just spitting over one of his vintage dope beats :wow:

The “Reprise” album version :francis: so subdued

Such a good uptempo in your face track :gladbron:

Scaled down version that totally strips the soul from the lyrics :martin:

One of the smoothest samples you’ll hear :whew:

Another sample fitting which makes the song sound sleepy :russell:

Jeez I’ve never heard Ready To Die without horns until this thread. Jeez.
Machine Gun Funk without the funk samples on the hook is even worse.

That actually predates streaming, too. Bridgeport Records is owned by this greedy cac who not only rips off all the artists he had signed (George Clinton had to make his own sample tapes in the early 90s because he was basically getting paid pennies in royalties for all the G-Funk tracks that sampled his old songs) and scours hip-hop music for even the SLIGHTEST trace of a song that his label has the rights to and sues the shyt out of anybody who used it without clearing it first. Ready to Die got hit with that in 2004 for Machine Gun Funk and the title track.

And before the original album even dropped, the title track, Me & My bytch, and One More Chance had their beats redone because they couldn't clear samples. The OG Me & My bytch and One More Chance tracks were only ever officially released on a Bad Boy sampler CD. Ironically, the OG One More Chance had an El Debarge sample that couldn't get cleared...and then the remix from '95 had a much more well-known El Debarge sample :mjlol:
