Salt with Angelina Jolie has a Ridiculous Inciting Incident

So some Russian agent unknown to the alphabet boys says Salt is gonna assassinate the Russian president and they, the Americans, fall for it?

I know her “escape” was suspicious, but she was concerned for her husband. Couldn’t they have just put security detail with her? Let her be free with a watchful eye.

Movie was entertaining, but man, that set off irked me.

I think it was because Salt had been a prisoner of the Russians a couple years earlier and then the Russian agent passing the lie detector test that had them ready to take Salt into custody so they could question her.
It was once she ran that they decided what the Russian agent said must be true.

I was in cali when it came out and seeing them gigantic billboards in downtown LA



But OP it was very believable to me. The fact that the Russian agent knew enough to say her name was suspicious in itself so they needed to at the very least investigate.

When she ran, they knew it was true.

Jolie mentioned how she could pass it 5-6 times, so I thought it was still dumb to take a Russian agent’s word as fact.

in today’s age any info can be obtained. That’s why I didn’t think his word would be worth anything. But like I said, the escape messed it all up.
