ECW Legend Sabu Announces His Retirement From Professional Wrestling - The Overtimer
Sabu Plans On Stopping Working In The Ring, Will Still Do Appearances and Autograph Signings
While on a video for Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Sabu would comment on his physical status and why it might not be ideal for him to keep up with professional wrestling. He’d say the following about what to expect from him when he’s on a poster moving forward.
“I’m not doing real good. I hurt my back about a year ago and it’s still been hurting. I wrestled a couple of weeks ago but I shouldn’t have. I’ve only wrestled like twice in the last year and I only went to the gym a couple of times the last year ’cause I hurt my back. I’m probably not gonna wrestle no more… I’m probably just gonna do autograph signings and personal appearance-type stuff .”
When you consider the type of career he has had, it’s not hard to imagine his body would be in rough shape at this point. Your physical condition starting to slip is a sign that things are close to an end when it comes to pro wrestling, so kudos to Sabu for knowing enough is enough – so no one gets hurt.
Will Come Out To Work With Brock Lesnar However
However, while he won’t be jumping at bookings – wrestling is something where retirement is just a phase if the right chance comes. From Terry Funk, to Ric Flair, to Shawn Michaels – there has also been that match that gets someone back into the ring, and Sabu would let everyone know his match is Brock Lesnar.
“I’d definitely get back in the ring for Brock Lesnar, I’d love to wrestle him. Especially if it was my final match, I’d love to wrestle him… He’s the best, he’s a shooter, he’s a good worker, he’s my kind of opponent. I like big guys, I like wrestling big guys, I don’t like wrestling guys like me because it’s not that interesting. It’s more interesting wrestling a guy like me against a guy like Brock Lesnar.”
