Even these prisons are hotels compared to the gulags they had back in the day. In addition to the savage violence dudes were literally dying of cold and starvation. During winter they had to sleep naked lying on top of eachother to keep themselves warm.
I still think I'd rather do time there than in this one prison I saw a show on in some south american country where the guards don't have guns but the prisoners do
