Trump is not the first WS president we've had, and definitely not even the worst in modern times. People are conflating Trump's idiocy and lack of tact with how strong his white supremacist beliefs relative to predecessors. Nixon was lambasting the Jews and blacks behind closed doors but in public acted like he had no problem with either group. Trump is the ID, in Freudian terms, of the Republican Party.
