50 years ago it would have taken at least days to get that info back to anyone who could actually do something about it.
today it's done within minutes.
how many times has something like this happened and just gone under the radar?
the game done changed and the rules have not been written.
this reminds me of WWI.
machine guns were a relatively new invention but the generals kept fighting like they didn't exist when it came to how they deploy an offensive.
they sent wave after wave of men at a target only to see them gunned down.
there was no precedent for how to plan for, defend against or use this incredible new weapon.
generals sent wave after wave of humans gunned down as they tried to figure out how to use and or evade this new weapon.
how could they keep sending people to certain death?

the generals who continued to engage in this new form of war with the same ideologies, strategies and tactics from a time past have not been treated kindly by history.
what was happening then is on par with the geo-politics of today.

we can all recognize it as a potential weapon, use it as a weapon or just choose to absorb and be influenced by it.
