being President and dealing with partisan politics when the other party controls both houses is an up hill fight.

if Obama spent time stunting then he would have spent less time working on things that really matter.

His constituency feels like he didn't do enough. Often after a discussion we see they either didn't know what he did, that he was responsible for what they gained, or why things turned out the way they did despite his best efforts (ACA conservatives + Lieberman).

i think that's a good thing.

In the right setting, yes.

This isn't a knew critique of Obama. I have two close friend who worked on the campaign and then for the administration. It was something that was always there with his messaging.

Hate him or love him, Trump is better at it and that's why we see him getting credit for things that were routine elsewhere.

It's also hamstrung Hillary.

This may change going forward, but the majority of voters in this country view things as binary. This good. That bad. They don't particularly care for nuance.

You have to do both.
