So how likely is that Congressional GOPers would move to impeach Trump if they've been complicit with him this whole time. I can see what's gonna happen,Mueller is gonna bring an indictment & Congressional Republicans will dismiss it as a partisan motivated directive. Am I missing something or how do y'all see it playing out?
I'm pretty sure I've said this before, so excuse me for repeating myself. What people continue to forget about Watergate and the Nixon impeachment is that by that time Republican leaders hated Nixon, and conservative Democrats were still making their shift into the party. Nixon wasn't some over the top diehard conservative that some would have you believe. Nixon was all about deals and boosting his own political prestige.
A lot of people hate Nixon because of the Southern strategy, but Nixon had a hand in the '57 Civil Rights Act. He pushed for the legislation behind the scenes because he saw JFK getting the future nod, and tried to beat him and the Dems to the punch. We know about his national healthcare compromise with kennedy, that was killed in congress ONLY because of impeachment.
By the time of impeachment, Nixon was a fukkn drunk. He used to escape to Camp David and booze to the point he almost nuked North Korea for the fukk of it. (Real shyt. Just google "nixon drunk camp david".)
Nixon was a dikk, but Nixon was truly about his legacy. Impeachment was not some heroic gesture. It was congressional leaders stealing back the mantle of conservatism/republicanism.
