Trump said in that random interview last week that Eric Holder protected Obama during "all the things they did" including the "IRS scandal" the "guns for whatever" and "uh, all the real problems they had - not made up problems like Russia collusion."They didn't need the safeguarding.
That's why I don't see this going how Nixon did. As corrupt and criminal as they were, both the GOP in the 70s and Nixon himself eventually had that moment when they admitted the jig was up and they had to acquiesce to do the "right thing." That final acknowledgement of reality will almost certainly never come for Trump and his cronies.
They could release the pee tape tomorrow in HD and guys like Grassley and Nunes would call for the prosecution of the people that leaked it.
