President Donald Trump is considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessionswith former campaign adviser Rudy Giuliani, according to a new report from Mike Allen at Axios.
The president has publicly voiced his displeasure with Sessions, and Axiosdescribed Trump’s “fury” directed at the attorney general after he recused himself from the Russia investigation.
Trump bashed Sessions — who was one of the first Republican lawmakers to back his long-shot bid for the presidency — in an interview with The New York Times last week, and took to Twitter Monday morning to ask why the attorney general was not investigating Hillary Clinton.
Following Trump’s comments, speculation again ignited that Sessions would resign from his post — rumors the attorney general shot down in a press conference.
Axios’s own Jonathan Swan last week called the relationship between the two “irreparably broken”
Giuliani, a cybersecurity adviser for Trump’s transition and loyal cable news surrogate, was overlooked for a post in the administration. Reports from the time indicated Giuliani was being considered for Secretary of State, but was passed on as Trump thought 72-year-old didn’t have the stamina for the job — which Trump determined after Giuliani fell asleep in a meeting.
Axios notes that “Trump often muses about possible personnel moves that he never makes, sometimes just to gauge the listener’s reaction. So the Giuliani balloon may go nowhere.”

Giuliani is not better than Sessions.
