This is the documentary that was made when Jones was P4P King moving up to HW to face John Ruiz. Jones trained to hard to bulk up with Mackie Shilstone. The same trainer that helped bulk up Michael Spinks to fight at HW.

  • Jones was getting smashed by his HW sparring partner when he first started sparring.
  • Jones was really 200lbs at the initial weigh-in but the Dr. messed up and weighed him in 193. Come fight night RJJ was 199lbs when he was re-weighed.
  • RJJ being the first man in 100 years to win titles from LHW to HW.
  • RJJ speaking about his Dad beating him and saying how he didn't have a childhood.
  • He made history but he also ruined himself moving back down in weight in that short time frame at that age. :mjcry:

All in all he still my GOAT in my eyes. :blessed:

I love Roy. I just was mad when my man Corey said to me many years ago, "Yo, I know you saw that kid from "Pepsi Cola" Florida fight last night" :krs: Corey get the hell outta face:what:

Anyway, Roy is the most physically gifted fighter in the history of pro boxing, and when he got that HW belt he solidified his legacy as a GOAT.

Dude helped BHop move to 175 as well, I wonder why dudes don't use him anymore :ohhh:

He cost too much. Jones was going to use him for when he fought Tarver the first time. But this time Mackie wanted a million dollars this time. So Roy pretty much just ran and starved himself to make the weight the first fight with Tarver. Similar to what Christ Byrd did when he tried to go down to LHW. So RJJ gave his all and pulled out the victory. So for the second fight Roy figured he hire Mackie again for Tarver II but the damage was already done and you know the rest.

They made another documentary about it called Heart of a Champion but Roy lost so that ruined the moment lol. It's still good to see how Jones prepared though for the fight.

:myman: Going to peep this tomorrow.

I heard the guy was expensive as fukk, but you get what you pay for.

I remember Hopkins said he retained a lot of what Mackie taught him & still applies it

Yeah S&C for the most part is expensive as fukk and when you add a guy that's a nutritionist as well I can imagine.

Plus your paying for his 35 plus years of experience:whew:

The man is proven time & time again

Has a 5,000 sq foot facility, will give you a medical evaluation, dietary plan, motivator, & is flat out hands on & will do the workouts with you.

I remember some years back Serena Williams was struggling & battling all kinds of injuries in her knees & shoulders. Just reached a wall that athletes tend to run into. Shilstone came in & started getting her on her shyt.

Although he is expensive, sometimes you have to spend money to make money. I'm not trying to get into anyone's pockets, but if he's getting your to perform at a higher level, which is making you money, then I believe he's well worth it.

There's very few professional fighters that I can think of at the moment that could actually afford him though (at least on a consistent basis if they wanted to). Guys like Mayweather, Pacquaio, & Wladimir off the top of my head. Anyone else, it would have to be for the right fight.

If I were a fighter, & got a really good purse to face someone like Mayweather, I may have to pay that price (for that one fight) to give myself the best possible chance of winning.

Just watched the whole thing, that cac is shaped like a noodle and is strong as fukk :damn:

:ohlawd: at the camera panning towards their feet when they were sparring, it's the little things :to:

Word Mackie was in serious shape he was barely breathing hard and keeping up with Roy easily when they was running. More boxers definitely should use him even though he expensive. Roy should have Mackie for Vargas and Pascal camps their next fights lol.
