@Maharishi- Dilla would be proud of this. You're a problem. This gets my vote.

@Supa You said you've only been making beats for 6 months? You have great progression then. I look forward to your sound a year from now. The track wasn't bad in and of itself. The chops were good. Add some reverb to the snare and it will glue with the track better just a little don't over do it. If you compress the kick more you will be able to get a little more punch to the kick. If you lower the sample overall the drums will naturally raise above everything else.

Good job to the both of you.

Enjoyed both of the beats :whoo:. Two different styles but on that smooth tone, which is a fav of mine. I went with Supa for my vote but it could easily go either way. Both beats make me want to go back to the lab and redo my shyt:francis:

I might have had a handful of beats made those first few months. Didn't really get going until November.

I didn't really go over the mix because this wasn't the beat I was was going to go with. I made this one two months ago but decided at the last minute to go with it. The other beats I made earlier in the day needed more work.

I just went in and changed what you mentioned and it instantly sounds better. I always have the sample playing at a higher volume than necessary and wonder why the drums don't punch more. I had some reverb on the snare but adding a little more made a big difference. I don't have monitors so it's hard to get a decent mix.

Thanks for the advice though because I can use it for all my work going forward.

@Maharishi good shyt. You had me stressing:mjlol:

@Maharishi :mindblown: That s**t was filthy, my guy. HEAVY Dilla vibes on this one. You use a lot of analog equipment? Love the drums, all the glitchy effects, the sirens, the breakdown, the chord changes in the second half. Fantastic beat.

@Supa Your beat was great as well. Great sample choice. I could hear Reasonable Doubt/Vol. 1 era Hov over this sh*t. Love the breakdown at the end with the vocal samples coming through.

Very close battle. Gonna give the edge to @Maharishi on this one.

@MichaelWhite Appreciate that breh, As a Hov stan you are definitely right about @Supa's beat. Heavy RD vibes, reminded me of 'Regrets'.
I use the sp404 sx with ableton sometimes in cooperating an old tape deck.

Thanks for the listen, tourney has been crazy so far
