I don't know why anyone thought Drake should spit on a song called RICO to begin with...'Yeah, it's a track for those who been through a case, or an indictment....I mean, not really a RICO, but I'll talk about probation and the DA's office..." 'What will Drake talk about"?

.........

A real MC would still know how to rap on that song with suitable and relatable content no matter if they been to jail or not

I was NEVER a big Drake fan but I honestly thought he was "helping" Wayne around that time because Wayne had falling into the non-coherent all lyrics style for awhile then on the Carter 4 he had quite a few structured songs with r&b backings. Was straight up Drake's alley I'm assuming that Drake's "camp" did have a hand on that album in the end. :manny:
Superhead ( i know, i know :hubie:)...straight up said when she was dating Wayne, Drake was helping him with structured/conceptual songs cause Wayne said that wasn't his style..he's more stream of consciousness...Drake supposedly wrote "Im Single" for him.

don't know what to believe anymore :wow:

I'm normally completely silent in all of these threads, but i had to say something.

Drake doesn't produce a lick, can't play an instrument, and doesn't "create" anything.

I don't even know how 40 typed that with a straight face.

We might as well come up with a list of other things Drake is, since apparently he's all of these invisible things.

"Thankfully for me, Drake isn't just a rapper. He's also a musician, producer, inventor of the Segway, international breakdance champion, Head of Marketing for IBM, Habitat for Humanity Chairwoman, Budweiser Beer Taster, world renowned tattoo artist, the man who took the photo of Tom from MySpace, Elon Musk, and a creator."

I laughed out loud at this for real :russ:

Well I know it's not always the case. I'm just saying I'm tired of that being the go to excuse. and even in ur comparison. Young MC still had a hit of his own. It's not like he couldn't do it himself.

Tone loc and young mc were forced out of the culture and draw as rappers for their issues culturally.

The culture would ostracize anyone guilty of faking jax.
As soon as the protection mechanism were destroyed by puff.
We soon arose to be here.

Hip hop purists out in full form today

Too bad none of you came out with the same support for Joe buddens album this week. That ain't none of my business tho

:hubie:

You'll never end drake cause you focus too much on hating instead of supporting.

Why should we support culture thieves?

CAN you answer this?

it wasnt the R&B songs he got exposed for though....it was the rap songs on IYRTITL and the RICO rap verse and 40 was responding to that

it was ghostwriting in general. to my knowledge, drake ain't never been linked to writing for rappers but he has ghostwrote for jamie foxx and rita ora which i assumed 40 was talking about when he brought up drake writing for others.

it's definitely an asterisk on drake's record but i would love to know how much QM actually contributed and in what sense. it's possibly it's flows. it's possible it was whole verses. i just think the shyt's interesting.

thank you for this breh... but i didn't mean to the ghostwriting.

i mean... has he ever responded to his own damn tweet

interviewer/guy on twitter/whoever: 40 back in the day you said if a rapper didn't write his rhymes............................................

40: well when i said that, what i had meant was.............................................

has THAT ever happened?

hell nah. the last i've heard from 40 was when rapgenius reached out about kanye's contributions to 2 birds 1 stone. they're very selective with their interviews which is why i was really looking forward to that PND interview with the breakfast club.

if he splits from ovo, then he'll definitely be the one to listen to about how the label operates. and i think the pressure around his artists not consistently doing big numbers is what pushed this "playlist" aka compilation tape from the label

i thought he was terrible....then i heard So Far Gone and nothing was the same after that. (no pun intended) the music was beautiful even though he had a bit of struggle flow, he rapped over Santigold, Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn & John..the only one of his projects i love and continue to play front to back several times a year. Take Care gets it's annual listens in the fall too to be fair.

so far gone doesn't get enough credit for its choices of instrumentals and samples. he put me on lykke li. he hasn't tried to touch that type of artistry since he's blown up which is surprising. a redux of so far gone instead of take care/nwts with views would have been really interesting.

Meek didn't call out Drake for "ghostwriting in general" he said "Drake dont write his own raps!" and gave out several reference tracks for rapping. And then 40 went on twitter to respond.

and its very hard to believe Drake has ghostwrote for anyone considering everything we know about him. Its not like he's known as some R&B writer. PND and Weeknd have given him many R&B songs.

and i think its clear QM gave drake flows as well as lyrics. A full verse? We'll never now but Nickelus F already confirmed he wrote an entire verse for Drake, and its safe to assume Hush has done the same.

Real talk though, I put anybody that's a blatant hater on Ignore. So aside from the few folks I been replying with, the last 2 pages on my screen are just Hex's white ass complaining about Drake as usual :mjlol:

I swear he was the runner up in the White Rapper auditions Drake held that culminated with OB O'Brien becoming his sidekick :lolbron:
