Is gold or silver really worth hoarding?

Let me explain..So say the Apocalypse theyre are anticipating comes and were all pushed back into the bronze age,paper money is totally worthless and there is no functional economy or government left

with no currency how will you sell your Gold.Imagine youre starving,i have a bit of food but no idea where i can get more ..you think youll convince me to let you have some in exchange for some shiny coins youll have a better shot offering up some ammunition,antibiotics or alcohol.

Im thinking perhaps id be better off hoarding bullets,first aid kits,nutritional supplements,water filters,emergency lights,hand tools than wasting time and money on silver and gold.

Please school me if im wrong here..most of this is hypothetical anyway..im just going off what i know about human nature and survival

exactly as you said.. if society ever collapses food, clean water and fuel will become the new currency. No one gives a fukk about gold.
