I'm trying to hook a room with a digital media player and I want a Roku but I see its not DLNA complaint

a little research online seems to tell me that Plex is somewhat(or better depending on site) alternative

anyone have any experience with it?

I need DLNA so I can download lots of seasons and movies on the pc and have them on the ready

shyt I just got my Roku which I must say is pretty quick for such a small and cheap product

but I got the Plex drive on my pc and my 4 core 3.0Ghz 8GB machine is running at 100% non stop

I hope this ish is only during the media scan cause I cant even use my pc

It'll be under high load when scanning your library and also when it begins to transcode media that the Roku doesn't natively support. When i was using Plex it would have high cpu usage for the first couple minutes of a stream to Roku but would then settle down and idle. Time it takes your system though depends on your CPU. I had an i7 hexacore doing the transcoding at 4.2ghz.

yeah it was the scanning shyt was cray cause Ive never seen all 4 cores running at 100%

but I must say this Roku is no joke for such a simple device it operates incredibly fast with a quick menu system

the Plex work amazing way better than my DLNA setup(Serviio) at both transcoding and the menu system

I like how it groups shows and adds synopsis for the episodes as well as descriptions for the shows/movies

on my list now is one for my big screen but it must be a 1080 so that ish will be later
