Roger Mayweather works with Adrien Broner in Las Vegas

As reported by HustleBoss.com/BoxingScene.com recently, Cincinnati-based trainer Mike Stafford is entertaining the idea of training his core group of fighters, which includes three-division world champion Adrien Broner, temporarily in Las Vegas within the coming weeks.

Stafford will arrive to Vegas next week, as two of his fighters, Jamel Herring and Robert Easter Jr., were lined up with bouts at the MGM Grand on Sept. 12. It actually turns out that Broner is already in the city, as he was spotted getting a workout inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Broner’s regimen wasn’t particularly grueling on this day, but it was interesting to see him on the pads with former heavyweight contender Nate Jones and later with Roger Mayweather.

Working together for the first time, Mayweather and Broner paced their routine on the mitts, with Roger giving pointers along the way.

Following Broner’s workout, I asked Roger what he thought of his time guiding the young champion.

“Like working with anybody else,” Roger said. “The thing about it is, I thought [he] was small. He’s bigger than I thought he was. He aint that small.

“My thing is to keep his hands moving, keep his head moving, and box,” Roger later added.

Broner moved up two divisions from the lightweight class in his last bout when he captured the WBA welterweight crown from Paulie Malignaggi with a split-decision victory in Brooklyn this past June.

He appears to now be lined up with another pivotal clash, this one with Argentinean power-puncher Marcos Maidana on Nov. 9.

While Broner has maintained that he can still make the lightweight limit if need be, Roger insists he could see him growing into a full-fledged welterweight in due time.

“Easy, easy, easy,” Roger responded.

Never one to be smitten by your average prizefighter, Roger paid Broner some definite respect when asked if the 24-year old could serve as one of the ambassadors of the sport in the coming years.

“I’m sure,” Roger replied. “He’s a well-schooled kid.”

He's working with his uncle just like lil Floyd did. If he's gonna stan Floyd and follow in his footsteps, then why not got to one of the main sources of Floyd's success?

It's more about the fact that Roger Mayweather was saying that Adrien Broner's small in physical size, that he didnt think he was the future of boxing, said to him (Roger) he was just "the average guy".....then after ONE day of getting some work in with him, he changed his tune up:russ:

Roger dissing Broner:

Roger after working with him ONE day and now loving Broner:ohlawd:

:yeshrug:

Roger Mayweather knows boxing and he now knows that Adrien Broner isnt just an overhyped kid. He's a talented boxer, and I believe if Roger got a hold of Broner......the sky's the limit

Broner was just getting some work in.

If I were a fighter, I would emulate Mayweather because it's working.

He's the face of Mayweather Promotions.

Ellerbe gets a lot flack because he's a homosexual but he was actually hired by Jeff to be a bodyguard for Floyd. From there he did Floyd's conditioning at one point. He's conditioned other fighters. Worked with Rahman a few times. He's one of the few guys in Floyd's camp that actually earns his money.

Basically the guy has been with Floyd since the mid 90s. Obviously he's picked up some shiit about boxing & the business. Nowadays his primary focus is Mayweather Promotions.

Yep, I've always said that Floyd laid the blueprint and a boxer would be STUPID to not follow it if they could.

Ellerbe is a loyal nikka he caught an ass whooping for Floyd.... N he does ALOT of TMT work....he's basically the Schaeffer of TMT

As far as AB is concerned...we know he got skills...what we don't know is if he has the drive and dedication... If AB stay partying N clubbing thats no good.... we also don't know if he has a chin at 147

Hopefully the good of Mayweather rubs off on him, humble after fights, hard working less partying etc
