Update:

CHI: JVG and Rockets mutual interest is real. I think everyone can attest to that. JVG will not come unless it's a situation like his brother has in Detroit, or what Thibs got in Minnesota. Rockets are well aware of this requirement, and want him. Morey may be retained if JVG comes, but he'd report to JVG.

I am not an insider. I don't know anyone in the Rockets organization. I live in San Francisco and am well connected in the sports travel industry with the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. JVG has been here in San Francisco many times in the past month for broadcasting duties.
