[Intro]
shyt, that be saying we too old to rap, huh?
That's funny
You look at these other cultures
They be touring 'til they like 80 years old, and they royalty
You look at us, well
They'll tell you we washed up in our late 20s
Let's talk about it

[Verse]
This industry'll do you dirty, then slowly you done
They laughing 'cause I'm over 30, but so is my gun
bytch I'm balling, imagine Jordan and Kobe as one
shyt I'm GOAT, Usain Bolt with a glorious run
Uh, people swear after 40 you finished
Jordan scored more when he got older, you saw the percentage
Percy Miller, No Limit soldier, that's pure independence
I'm preaching from the pulpit like the Lord has intented
Listen, fukk the exposure, I get the cheddar
How dare a nikka try to say I got older, I'm getting better
I had to get my composure, I'm sick as ever
Body every rapper name on ya folder, you pick the letter, nikka
Before you hate make sure that you know ya history
We played out by 38, rock stars be over 60
If it's dope then it's dope, I'm great, don't restrict me
OG can still hold up his weight, Oprah Winfrey, wooo!
fukk punching a clock, pushing a broom
I came up, shyt I suffered a lot, I shook up the room
I'm killing features, I butchered the block, I'm booked up 'til June
Caterpillar transformin, they overlooked my coc00n
Listen, I been blowing up in the mix
How I ain't young enough to rap, but I'm old enough to get rich?
I give you facts while I'm rolling up, getting lit
nikka, every rap anemic, I'm cold enough to get sick, wooo!
Far as rappers, one of the greatest
It's the reason Marshall Mathers call me one of his favorites
fukk a album, I drop the wonderful playlist
Everybody think they sick, but ain't got nothing contagious, nikka
See this is the difference between us
You judge age, I judge you by the strength of your genius
Listen, what can I say? But nikkas is demons
You praise the freshmen everyday, but you shyt on the seniors
That's facts...

He’s talking to a bunch of you :smugfavre::sas1::ufdup::ufdup:

They didnt see it at the time, but old school rappers killed themselves longterm by having childish immature content when they were still hot..

This is the difference between rappers and every other genre. The O'Jays and Rolling Stones and such are still touring and making serious bank because as old men they arent backed in a corner singing thugged out mindless topics which just looks and sounds ridiculous and stupid for a mature adult.

Rappers were told to clean up their act and have better subject material but the ignorance and mindlessness sells, but wont sustain you long term.
I dont feel sorry for them..they made their bed and must now lie on it.

exactly. Some themes have shelf lives and a lot of rappers run the risk of their fanbase outgrowing their content

The issue is with older rappers feeling like they still have to "act" young.

If you're still making dope music and keeping your skills sharp, no one can deny you. But a lot of dudes get insecure and try to speak about shyt they think will resonate with younger audiences and they get too concerned with being marketable. Just make good shyt and stay true to where you are, and the support will come. It was sad in the late-90's seeing pioneers talking about how they "get jiggy" and shyt like that, lol. They don’t want to look old, but they end up looking like someone's washed uncle in the process.

There's mad dudes in their 40's who are still as dope as ever. Roc Marciano, Kiss, Pusha, Nas, Ross, KA, and dudes like dudes like Spitta, Gibbs and Conway pushing 40. Jay is over 50, etc. If the music is dope, you're fine. But don’t follow what the younger MC's are doing. That's all.

Futures content won't be suitable for him to perform even a decade from now, even now its not.

He'll be an old autotune man on stage going on and on about popping purple pills..:flabbynsick:

Yep. Dope music is dope music, regardless of content. It’s about skill. That’s why Rakim, Nas, Bun B and other long time vets can still make good music. Hell, 2019-2020 were loaded with good albums from long time vets. Skill overrides trends. That’s the difference between aging gracefully vs coming across like Fabolous.

Truth.

Yeah, Fab still wants to be 19, and he's like 44 or something, lol. Rakim hasn't lost a step in over 30 years. If you got it, you got it. I think the business side of music kills older MC's way more than it being an issue with talent. They worry too much about how to push the music, and not enough about just making the music.
