Go Mack, a member of the influential West Coast rap group Above The Law, has reportedly passed away. Born Arthur Lee Goodman III, Go Mack served as the DJ for the group, which also featured DJ Total K-Oss, producer Lay Law, and rappers Cold 187um and The Illustrator KMG.
The group burst onto the scene in 1990 with their debut album, Livin’ Like Hustlers, released on Eazy E’s Ruthless Records. The album spawned hits like “Murder Rap,” “Kickin’ Lyrics,” and “Untouchable,” and showcased a sound that would later evolve into the G Funk style, credited to Dr. Dre. Livin’ Like Hustlers featured production from Lay Law, Cold 187um, and Dr. Dre.
Above The Law continued their run with Black Mafia Life in 1992 and Uncle Sam’s Curse in 1994, both on Ruthless Records. Go Mack departed the group after Black Mafia Life in ’92. The group later signed with Tommy Boy Records, releasing Time Will Reveal and Legends in 1996. Go Mack was preceded in death by fellow members KMG and Lay Law.
