Rigondeaux: No Running, I'll Break Leo Santa Cruz's Head
Posted by: Miguel Angel Cebreros on 2/1/2015

By Miguel Angel Cebreros, notifight.com

Cuban world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KO's), who holds the super bantamweight championships of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO), appeared on A Los Golpes Radio and continued to call for a unification Mexico's Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1, 17 KO's), champion at 122 pounds under the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Speaking live from Miami, Rigondeaux said Santa Cruz's promoter Oscar de la Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Boris Arencibia of Caribbean Promotions, who handle the two-time Olympic gold medal winner, were in talks to match the two boxers.

Rigondeaux also disputed Santa Cruz's claim of the fight being possibly boring because the Cuban boxer will run around the ring without engaging.

"We are waiting, we are ready, I've never said no to any fight. I'm waiting for Leo Santa Cruz, or his father, to decide that the fight is done. Just say yes and we will fight, because there is nothing left. You have to fight because you are a champion, but are not the super champion at 122 pounds," Rigondeux said.

"He is charging $750,000 per fight to face dead men. As I told Nonito [Donaire], who also had an inflated opinion. I will give him a gift. I will not run, I will not move, that's what he doesn't know. He thinks I'm going to run. Let him think that, because I'll stop in the middle of the ring and I'll break his head."

I HATE when ppl say fighters like Rigo/Floyd run in their fights

But if they do fight, I expect Rigo to make easy work of Santa Cruz
It's just a ploy from this era of flat foot fighters to use so someone would stand there and slug with them, basically playing to their so called advantage. Instead of learning how to "run", they rather remain slow and stationary, and get KO'd.

I'm glad Rigo is talking ish. Easy work!

Imagine the amount of "running" people would have been claiming Ali did in his prime if he was Boxing in today's era:wow:

Prime Ali was on his toes the entire fight and circling around the ring like a ballerina dancer...sticking and moving, only stopping to drop a 3-4-5-6 punch combo with varying speed and power....then getting back on his toes:banderas:

Ali Bumbaya:blessed:
