There's a lot attention brought to him because he's Asian, and I find that to be an unfortunate but useful political tool. He is definitely a voice for very large Northern Californian Asian Community. We are Very well-off out here, very conservative, but more importantly, however, we are lacking a strong public voice. Ricky, and others like him, are more than adequate representation of this New and established community.


Race aside, he Already raised 1.5+ million in a not-so-aggressive fund raising campaign. He has youthful appeal, but he's not dangerously anti-establishment like Ron Paul. He has the right endorsements, and if he wins, he will be THE republican of color.

He's just following in the footsteps of "Bobby" Jindal and "Nikki" Haley. Nothing extradordinary there. And @ you claiming him for some imagined "Asian community." Indians don't give a fukk about East and Southeast Asians for the most part, and vice versa.

My ethnicity and Last name are derived from Indian words, and I have some Definite south Asian ancestry. Y-DNA HG O2 has a significant occurrence in eastern India. It's all evidence of the extreme close ties and historical relationships between India and the Rest of Asia.


Me personally, I just think Indians are good people. That's enough for me. I think it's great that there are considered Asian.

Ancient history and DNA doesn't change the fact that these communities in the US don't actually care about each other or have any significant organizations or other efforts dedicated to turning them into a bloc of any kind. Obviously Gill will pander for Asian votes when it suits him, but that's neither here nor there.

Indians don't give a fukk about East and Southeast Asians for the most part, and vice versa.

Go to lunch near Cysco or Apple, and you'll find that Indians and Other Asians often grouped together.

Many of my friends are Indians. I recently attended a Sihk Wedding, and I wasn't the only South East or East Asian there. However, The Way many South East Asians act, especially in Ricky Gill's district, I'd understand why many Indians would rather not associate with SEA.

I don't know how things are in New York or anywhere else. Norcal is Asian-world and that's all I know. How race relations are in other areas is beyond my knowledge.

@ OP, I'll give breh a shot. The only problem is he never stated what plan of action he planned on doing besides his slogan of bringing: "change". Sound familiar. I think in the long run, he'll probably get elected but Unless breh is encouraging bipartisan he'll just another republican hack / greedy politician.
