It wasn't horrible, but like you said it was aight.
To me the the writing felt rushed at times like they were trying to wrap up a lot of loose ends...just in case. And the voice replacement for Rick was pretty solid, but Morty had some iffy moments.
Then again, with as crazy as the build up was between all the seasons for storylines like Evil Morty, it's damn near impossible to not disappoint in some way
I don't know even the tone felt off to me, but maybe it's just due to the newness and wow factoring wearing off, and too many weirdo fans for me (since the szechuan sauce campers). Could've been the long gap in between seasons, in addition to all the real-life fukkery.
