I decided I would watch/rewatch the newest Bonds before "No Time To Die" came out, and I hadn't seen any Brosnan in probably 15 years. And I'd never seen the last one.

Honestly, Goldeneye was a little stale and I actually enjoyed Tomorrow Never Dies more. Maybe it's the current political climate, but it's media tyc00n villain and false-flag storyline was damn interesting to me.

And though I remember not thinking much of The World is Not Enough, but everything sans-Denise Richards was pretty fukking awesome lol. It's dumb, and her scenes are unwatchable (not only her fault, as the script was dogshyt and the action scenes shes in are dumb as hell), but everything before she shows up is kinda great.

I actually liked all 3...and then I sat down for Die Another Day, Actually, I'm making this thread as it finishes up. HOLY shyt, I can't imagine ANY Bond film...or any franchise film in general, being worse than this. Ridiculous story, bland villain, laughable set pieces and truly embarrassing CGI. There's no way this was acceptable CGI in 2002. And as bad as it is, it's not as bad as the fukking theme song.

Yup basically. Tomorrow never dies is an underated bond flick. People remember goldeneye much more fondly because if the game IMO....and die another day is one I usually skip when I rewatch them....its unwatchable to me. And i watch plenty of bad movies but that shyt is awful.

I just can't get into them
Golden eye is the one that I like the best out of them but bond is way too untouchable in these films which I know is what he's like but it's jarring when coming from Daniel Craig

I did not see "Golden Eye" in theaters, but it was such an iconic part of my childhood, the video game, and watching it on VHS in summer 1996 at my boys birthday. I would have been 10 years old. Between being bewitched by Famke Janessen, and the decadence of the 90's Bonds, I always loved it. The video game nostalgia plays an important factor too, without a doubt.

I will say, watching now, a lot of it does seem stale, though the sharpness of M's lines was probably the best of series, regarding him being a misogynist dinosaur. Some of the scenes, the opening in Monte Carlo, are so dated and cheesy, that music when the cars start racing, is too much. But, the rest of the movie works well, and has probably the emotionally resonant scenes of the Brosnan movies, when he sits on the beach with Natayla, or when 006 asks about the martinis and all the men he's killed, and women he failed to protect.

I did see Tomorrow Never Dies in theaters, and it was fun, and fast, a nice cameo by Teri Hatcher, a decent villain in Johnathan Pryce, no real chemistry with the female lead, but a very serviceable Brosnan Bond. Partially, it's just a fun memory of the late 90's, and going to movies as a child, but it is sleeker and leaner than Goldeneye, as a re watch. Totally incomprehensible video game as well.

Also saw The World is Not Enough, and though the video game was probably as loved as Goldeneye, by my friends and I, the movie was near terrible. Denise Richards acting was very, very below par, (even for a "Bond girl") and a confusing and absurd story that never really worked, but that's one I haven't really rewatched in full in probably 20 years.

Did not see Die Another DIe until 2003, but it was bloated and absurd, and felt overdone, and just off. I watched it after smoking a blunt the first time, and that did make it enjoyable, but it is without a doubt a terrible movie.

Goldeneye is a bit overrated but I still enjoy it, tomorrow never dies is flames because of Michelle Yeoh :takedat: and The world is not enough is actually low key dope

They are cool for what they were at the time and Golden Eye is one of the GOAT video games on N64 but I don't think they hold up that well. They are a little too over the top and the CGI aged poorly in some scenes.

I like Bond to have a good mix of realism and sci-fi basically and I think the Brosnan ones lean too hard into the sci-fi aspects..

TMD's villain being a media guy inciting a war to get special broadcast rights will always be one of the wackest schemes in Bond history but at least Pryce tried to make the character work work.

I have a soft spot for TWINE because it's the first 007 film I saw in theaters even though it definitely is awful in places and I think the film peaks with the opening scene. It also features one of the most ludicrously nonsensical ways to attempt to kill Bond by sending helicopters with buzzsaws after him. :dahell:

The less said about DAD the better...
