With all this talk about After Earth and why it's not doing well because "CACs hate seeing black leads in movies," I figured it'd be a good idea to talk about the last big budget movie with a majority black cast. What did people think about it? Has anyone rewatched it and had their opinions changed?

This movie also didn't do well in the box office. I can't speak for all movie theaters, but the one I went to looked like the "White Guilt 2012 Convention," so I don't think it was white people who refused to support it.

Movie was good. Characters made some dumb ass decisions throughout but I enjoyed, haven't rewatched it but it worth owning.

If your auntie ain't got a copy on dvd I seriously question your blackness :birdman:

That movie sucked. The directing was cool, but it was the writing that made the film trash. That and 42, poorly written films with watered down racism. Spielberg should have done it, the "Red Tails" topic was supposed to be a trilogy

the film looked great, was directed great, but at the end of the day it was some disney style retelling of american history

let spielberg do some grimy long winded 2-3 hour war tale that really develops the characters beyond some one dimensional 'renegade' pilot, one alcoholic pilot, and a couple of sidekicks. :upsetfavre:

i havent seen 42, and even though i love basketball and movies like 'glory road' it really felt like one of those instead of the epic film it was meant to be

but i totally get family friendly movies that you can take your kids to see so can i knock anyone for doing it like that, but at the end of the day get your shyt critically acclaimed and hope the money trickles in
