Are you a female?

Eitherway, I suggest no protein for the 1st three months of hitting the gym. Always try and get your supplements in food first.

Sometimes you don't know what your body needs, especially if your diet isn't correct first. So in your case, male or female I would suggest nothing extra besides your normal training levels of protein from lean meats, eggs, nuts, oils and maybe even milk.

If you're a dude then I think you will need to do about 1.5 months before determining whether you need extra protein.

When you do, I can only suggest Optimum Nutrition (ON WHEY). They have a fair few, just start with your normal Gold Standard.

I unfortunately cannot use it anymore as I am allergic to something in most of these proteins, and I use a brand called Nectar, which is gluten and lactose free. Stops me feeling like death whenever I take my protein

If you mix your protein with other shyt cant go wrong with NOW Whey Isolate

I like Optimum Whey also

Just make sure you buy from BB.com

This x100.

Also, Cellucor is a GREAT brand imo. Huge variety of flavors and a good profile and reputation.

You cant go wrong w/extra protein

Its probably better to figure out what your maintenance calories are and build a diet around that.

But protein from natural sources doesn't come free. Lean meat yields you ~4-5mg of cholesterol for every g of protein... RDL of cholesterol is 300mg, that shyt adds up fast. Protein from grains and stuff obviously comes with carbs. Supplementation lets you get protein "for free" and for a much lower cost than even chicken thighs. If the plan is to build muscle it's hard to get too much protein.

What are your goals? I think if you're trying to build muscle you should be getting 1 to 1.5 times your body weight in grams of protein daily. Most trusted brands can help you reach that goal without the added fat and carbs if you're within the range of hitting your macros. I personally use Optimum Whey
