WWE fans were disappointed not to see RETRIBUTION at WWE SummerSlam as well as Payback. It was earlier reported that the group was set to interfere in the Randy Orton vs Drew McIntyre match at SummerSlam. But that didn't happen and you can read why here.

When the group was away from SummerSlam, many fans expected its members to show up at WWE Payback because of a cryptic message posted by a rumored member. As of now, POST Wrestling has reported that RETRIBUTION will no longer show up on WWE SmackDown and will be restricted to RAW shows.
WWE’s RETRIBUTION faction dealing with ‘mixed booking’
According to a report from Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue in a preview of the episode of Raw after SummerSlam, via Sportskeeda.com’s Kishan Prasad, RETRIBUTION is suffering from “mixed booking” in WWE.

Colohue uses this specific term, because there is so much division regarding RETRIBUTION’s role in WWE. At SummerSlam, for example, some people backstage wanted RETRIBUTION to interfere in Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre. Others did not. On a more macro level, Colohue says that some people within WWE want the faction to always wreak havoc, while others just wish the company never debuted the faction in the first place.

None of this seems to bode well for RETRIBUTION. While fans are patient and hope this new group succeeds, they don’t have high hopes. And if WWE doesn’t have a clear direction and has, um, factions within the company divided on how to book this group, then it’s difficult to envision them succeeding.
Trying to stretch the reveal out until October is a dumbass idea, because the interest in the group is already fading now. The reveal should've happened at Payback or it needs to happen in the next 2 weeks before people give up on it already. Making them RAW exclusive makes everything they did on Smackdown pointless and flat out stupid.

I figured they had already lost interest in them. I don’t even know what the plan was in the first place.
This was a classic example of trying to do too much. The problem is that unless there's a big name revealed as the leader then this will be one of the biggest busts ever. The K.I.S.S method is what was needed for this storyline, and that's have them attack the first 2 weeks, have the leader be shown in the shadows, and then have them wreck shyt at Payback and then reveal the leader at the end.:manny:

Kayfabe is so dead

Imagine if they had internet articles about this in 1996.

"WCW creative is still goin back and forth on who should be revealed to be the 3rd member of the mysterious group of former WWF members, Scott Hall & Kevin Nash. Writers are bouncing back and forth on whether a fresh heel turn of Sting to revive his career or the recently signed Sean Waltman (aka 123 kid) to join his real life friends in the Kliq. Also, Hulk Hogan just got done filming a movie and rumors circulating in the creative room that might have Hogan revealed as the leader of this new renegade group called the nWo with Hall & Nash. Stay tuned for details in the coming weeks"

The President ruined the booking by meddling with creative and opening an investigation into the group.:upsetfavre:
