Report: Florida Democratic Congresswoman Val Demings mulling bid against DeSantis or Rubio

U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., is reportedly eyeing the jobs of two well-known Florida Republicans, mulling either a run for governor or a U.S. Senate seat in 2022, according to a report.


Supporters of the congresswoman, who has represented Florida’s 10th district since 2017, have asked her to challenge either Gov. Ron DeSantis or U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.

Earlier this week, Demings said she is "seriously considering" the idea.

"I've received so many calls and texts and emails, and have been stopped when I'm out and about by people who are asking me that very same question," she told Politico on Thursday. "Matter of fact, they think I should run for statewide office and maybe challenge the governor, or challenge Sen. Rubio next year. I'm seriously considering a statewide run. And we'll see what happens."

I was watching Dana White in the UFC postgame press conference last night he was waxing poetically about Desantis and his approach to covid and business. The Iranian dude from Valuetainment pretty much moved to Florida for the same reasons. Like it or not @the cac mamba was right about this dude starting to steal the shine of this recovery. He’s got some juice right now. And remember prior to the pandemic his approval ratings with African Americans was pretty high too.
