Why in the world would Chrome get rid of this?

Okay it does it...but it used to be available when you right-click a tab.
I still see it when I right-click, did you recently update Chrome? Try restarting your machine and see if it reappears

Did you go over to the history tab? You should see it over there.
that's what I was gonna say. it's still under "recently closed" in your history
Open a new tab then right click the the new tab. It's still there but for some reason you gotta do this now
