Whenever someone uses the "Heritage, not hatred" line I find that the best rebuttal is pointing to the Third Reich. Germans have gone to EXTREME lengths(At times a little TOO extreme) to leave the legacy of the Third Reich behind. They look at that time period with disgust and curse the very names of Hitler and any other high ranking official. You'll practically never see a German flying the nazi flag. The reason for their hatred of the Nazi era is because they've actually been educated and KNOW what the regime was about. The average Confederate flag flyer has NEVER read a single page of their states Ordinance of Secession where every state OUTLINED that the main reason they were leaving was because of slavery. They've NEVER read things like Virginian and former Confederate soldier John S. Mosby, reflecting back on his role in the war, state in a letter to a friend that "I've always understood that we went to war on account of the thing we quarreled with the North about. I've never heard of any other cause of quarrel than slavery. Even funnier, they never knew that THEIR side attacked FIRST!!!!! They were the terrorists attacking and KILLING America troops. Yet the SAME people flying the Confederate flag will claim they care about this country It really is a case study in hypocrisy.
