I am starting to notice a bit of talks about relocation among coli brehs, so I figure its time we get a serious discussion about this going in Higher Learning.
A couple of questions.
If YOU ARE thinking of possibly relocating, where are you looking at? What kind of time frame are you working with? Are you looking to just move within the states or are you exploring other options?
If YOU ARE NOT thinking of possibly relocating, why not? What field are you in and where are you located?
What is your goal assuming you have that figured out?
I am in Lexington, KY right now and a couple of weeks from obtaining my CCNA. I plan to work for a couple more years here in the U.S. if it makes sense, but the financial freedom I will soon have after these damn student loans are out of the way makes it tempting to start looking elsewhere. I have options in the Dominican Republic right now, but the move would only be temporary as I still have some exploring to do to see where I want to eventually stay.
Ultimately I think the problem is that I am not sure I want to deal with the hassle of moving back to NYC even with the good possibility of landing a 80-90K job. I have been comfortable with the lifestyle out here for the past 6 years, but feel like I want more at the same time. I am possibly looking at Houston, but might just go for the highest paying gig I can get, stack and look into buying property overseas. Picking out locations overseas would be another problem, but I think traveling to several destinations in the next 2 years or so will take care of that issue.
