Anyone see the movie South Central? I recently re-watched the movie after that OG Bobby Johnson track blew up.
It's easily one of the most "macho" movies I've watched. Manliness, manhood, and masculinity are central themes throughout the movie. With all this talk about masculinity/femininity in the culture going on I thought it would be interesting to get your perspectives on this flick. All that tough guy sh!t actually makes them lesser men and damages their families and community in the end.
Also, it's fvcked up that the good guys in the movie, the Afrocentric brothers, would be subject to "validation" and subsequently given months/years of solitary confinement for their pro-Black/Afrocentric views, appearance, and readings in today's prison system.
I still think "The Education of Sonny Carson" is a better prison movie but this one has a nice, feel good ending that gives the viewer some relief after all the evil that was on display.
