Redfall Is Always Online Even In Single-Player, Bethesda Confirms “That Was Different” OT

Redfall was given a release date during the Xbox Bethesda event last week, but it turns out there could be significant downsides to the multiplayer portion of the game. As confirmed by Bethesda, the game will be “always online” even when you’re playing in single-player, which could raise concerns as to the longevity of the game and how long you can actually play it for.

As stated in the official FAQ:

“A persistent online connection is required for single-player and co-op. A Bethesda.net account is required.”

The first post of mine you quoted literally says “SINGLE PLAYER CONTENT IS PLAYABLE OFFLINE”

The other posts are in reference to a periodic online check in, in which case you would still be able to play games offline.

And that’s all I said in here. There’s nothing wrong with Always online if the functionality of the game is based on having an internet connection. Some very cool things can be done, like in Flight simulator having a connection gets you more detail and better graphics. But if you don’t have a connection you can still play the game. Same with something like Elden Ring with the online stuff. But you can still play offline.

There’s no reason that if servers go off, you shouldn’t be able to do the single player license tests and stuff like that

And Xbox actually doesn’t have any “single player” games that can’t function offline :ufdup:

And again for the record there’s nothing wrong with “always online “ there can be lots of advantages to having an ongoing connection. Problem is GT7 has none of them. There’s literally no reason for it to be “always online” other than to push microtransactions
