Remember back in the 90s when women had reasonable weaves?

And a lot of them got their real hair done. Anyone who had to accompany their mother to the hair salon remembers sitting for HOURS, and being relieved one that oil sheen, or spritz was sprayed, and the cape came off.

Some of those hairstyles in those pics look crazy though too.
Back in those days though women weren’t wearing weaves as often because they were wearing relaxers. Weave wearing got big when a lot of women stopped getting relaxers to become natural.

At my job, there are a ton of bw, the majority wear relaxers. I don’t see hardly anyone wearing natural hair, but also rarely see weave here. There’s some correlation between weave wearing sky-rocketing once women stopped relaxing.

My point is that most of those styles in those pics aren’t weaves, breh. That’s the difference... They are hair styles for women with relaxers. I remember seeing those magazines at every hair salon, you could pick out which style you wanted after you got your relaxer or retouch. Weave wearing wasn’t really that big in the nineties outside of braids.
