Here's my dilemma. My mom's family owns a home that belonged to my grandmother before she died in 2000. I'm pretty sure it needs work because my(God bless his soul)druggie uncle and his friends basically destroyed most of the house(per my fam, I actually haven't seen the house yet). My family doesn't want to sell the house because of the sentimental value it contains and because the house has almost zero value due being in a poor location(it's basically a modern-day township with a pop of 2,000 people in SE Missouri..... next to the Mississippi River... Mosquitos are terrible). Just about everyone has moved away and the relatives that are still there cannot afford to live in the house. My aunts and uncles are getting old & sick and can't do anything with the house other than keep the property taxes paid on it on top of having property of their own. There isn't anyone in our family that can renovate the house for cheap instead of not paying out the a** to have someone else do it.

What would you do with this house?

Sell it and let go of those sentimental feelings

Actually, those feelings ain't mine..... I couldn't care less.... I have my dad's house willed to me in an actual city, not a township..

The land/house will probably stay in the family until someone wants the land(a corporation)
