Yeah but if thats the case why not just take rudimentary boxing lessons and learn from punch specialists how to punch? Boxing doesnt have any of the mysticism and its training is typically straight forward. Or take up kickboxing and its different forms which again are practical applications of a martial discipline, or judo specifically for throws and etc. Wouldn't that be more practical than some of the over the top and theatrical qualities of some of your western martial arts? Like benefit is there to learning a kata?
It's classical..... It has this purity to it....
The thing is they probably used to fight like this back in the day, think of it like a chess game, but over times as things change players get more aggressive, evolving more determined to win... Yeah the old style might not work in todays world against today's breed of fighters.
But any fighter worth his mettle can kick ass knowing this shyt. That's why alot of people combine styles it's not like hey I'm gonna learn this one style from my village and that's it. :you gotta go to each village and learn them all & adapt.
Like that fighter in the wind was an amazing story of this guy who basically didnt know any martial arts and taught himself how to fight in the mountains came back and was a beast...
