Ready start my journey in producing need tips.

So far all I have is iMac pro, going to hit up my music store tomrow so before I go there is there anything that is a must buy? Keyboard ? Beat machine?

Also was going to buy FL studio but tell me if it's not needed.

Really any tips will help big or small.

Keyboard is essential for ever daw imo except fl studios...
You can find flstudio any where.

I dont use ableton but a good amount of these new age trap/experimental producers are on it... Flying lotus/ djemba djemba, mr carmack , freddie joachim use ableton.

I use reason 8 which is currently on sale on the propellerhead website for 299(has 30 day trial once it runs out you cant save)... you can buy refills now that are almost on par with top vsts( you have to learn to mix to achieve the highest quality) reason is about learning the virtual hardware that comes with it and imo it too me a while to get use too it but if your looking to create your own sound i would cop... Evil needles, iamnobody, dj toomp, use reason.

Dont know much about pre sonus one its the newest main stream daw i think.

Maschine looks to be geared towards mpc heads/loop base producers.

I dont have a mac but i have heard nothing but great things about logic pro

It depends on what you want. If you're musically inclined yes get a midi keyboard maybe one with pads so you can get the best of all the world's.

Otherwise if gear interests you, look into maschine but in my opinion wait until 5/9/16 and cop the brand new mpc studio for 399. Your going to get hardware/gear plus a good as daw (digital audio work station) tons of sounds etc.

Unless your not musically inclined at some point your going to want or need a midi keyboard. Hell check with a cousin or family who might have a keyboard in the basement garage or attic if it has a midi port on the back you can get a cord and connect that to your computer and use it for whatever program you get.

Otherwise using mouse and keyboard to paint cords and draw in notes wil suffice and you won't need a midi keyboard.

Go to guitar center or a big box music store they usually have a set up you can play with. Also download the demos reason, FL studios, logic, ableton, mpc studio, maschine,

You can achieve the same suit using any program just some programs mesh better with others
