Damn, you beat me to it, OP. I was going to make this thread. :lolbron:

I remember how big this was. They were promoting this episode for weeks, and they made sure to deliver something worthy of the title. I remember being like :gucci: when Punk turned heel. They also set up some new storylines down the road that carried them into 2013 (Punk's heel turn, Rock challenging for the title, AJ as general manager). This is what an anniversary show is supposed to feel like. If anything, this was more of a PPV than SummerSlam was. I was anticipating this a lot more.

My only problem with this episode has nothing to do with the episode itself, but the fact that they went to three hours permanently after this. I always thought that was a mistake and it's one of the reasons I stopped watching every week. I was still keeping up with the product, but it was a lot harder to watch every episode when it's three hours. That used to be for special occasions only (WWE Draft, Old School RAW, 3-for-All).

Yeah, the hype was real for that show, it felt like a PPV or sorts, hell it felt like a new era was about to pop off (not like the Attitude Era or anything but more like a fresh restart and it did feel like that at least for a few weeks). I remember the new set and logo being leaked before the show and it just made me even more excited for the show.

The Punk heel turn is one of my favorites because it didn’t feel like a heel turn at first, Punk wasn’t even booked as heel fully until after SummerSlam but after Raw 1000, every week you could feel the full heel turn coming each and every week.

Back to the actual show, it was enjoyable, it met expectations and was much better than that clusterfukk known as Raw 25, only thing that was missing from Raw 1000 was Austin who oddly didn’t make any appearance.

Being a 15 year old smark was such fun in hindsight cause I was lowkey mad when DX beat down Sandow and was happy as hell when Punk hit that GTS on The Rock :russ:.
