Last season the Toronto Raptors weren’t very good, but they had a pretty good defense (12th in the NBA) that kept games close. So it stood to reason that if you added Kyle Lowry’s offense, the much anticipated Lithuanian big Jonas Valanciunas and rookie Tereence Ross, this team would take another step forward.
Nope. The Raptors are 4-16. They have a bottom 10 offense still and their defense is a mess, 28th in the NBA. Toronto is giving spot-up shooters good looks and not closing out, and they are the second worst team in the NBA at defending guys in the post (via Synergy Sports).
GM Bryan Colangelo has caught up with the team and is doing interviews to try and find out why. He might start by looking in the mirror and discussing with that guy roster construction and what kind of team he is trying to build. Colangelo also talking to players and coaches to try and figure it out.

But he’s not happy, he told Doug Smith of the Toronto Star.
“This situation is, from all standards, unacceptable,” the team’s president and general manager said. “It’s disappointing, it’s embarrassing but this is where we find ourselves….
“There’s been a lot of dialogue, a lot of discussion,” he said. “It’s constant evaluation of what we’re doing and how we’re doing it and why we’re doing it.”
The team and coaches held a closed-door 25-minute meeting after getting thumped by the Jazz this week, too.

Colangelo has no guaranteed money on his deal past this season and having been on Toronto radio the past week a couple times I can say he is a target of the fans. With reason, again what plan do you see in how the team is constructed? And now, what are you going to do with the enigmatic Andrea Bargnani, who has two years and $22 million left on his contract AFTER this season. He’s not going to be easy to move.
In the long term, the Raptors may be better off with another lottery pick to build around, even in what is seen as a down draft this year. But the Raptors problems are deeper than that and coach Dwane Casey and Colangelo need to figure out what the path is for this team and get them back on it. And get them to defend, too.

I hate how this pos keeps trying to take the blame off himself by suggesting the talents there,so he did HIS job and teams not doing theres....It dont work like that.

Not only as he done a shytty job the last 5 years but hes a total coward when it comes to accountability...Hes so cot dam n pathetic he pulled this sh1t in 09-10 when that team completely died in the last 2 months of the season, again he blamed the roster and praised the fact he put the right talent together....Dude thinks he creates the rules on distinguisuing his body of work from results,pathetic...

Cant wait til we start hearing the boos and seeing the paper bags at the ACC,long overdue...

he deosn't keep us out of the lottery..Why trade a lottery pick for him?

Take an overview of his moves since Bosh left or even the last 5 seasons since we last made the playoffs and you realize its a pointless question to ask,he doesnt have a real plan and never has...He has had 3-4 re starts and he has screwed everyone up with band aid fixes....

....if he stays

Interesting point,i was suggesting this on another board that the Raps best way to avoid another PR disaster when it comes to the 2014 draft is too trade Lowry high this season for a pick and assure your tank status this year and next...fans will hate it but provide you give BC and bargs the boot in between you could come up nicely heading into 2014-2015...Thats what this orgnanization post Colangelo should be shooting for now...

As far as im concerned this seasons over might as well start thinking about next season and 2014 right now...

Lowry can bolt if he wants

Secondly I would have rather signed goran dragic, a Aaron breaks than to trade a draft pick for Lowry

Colangelo built this team, Calderon is te only player whose been here before he arrived

He hired the coaches he drafted and signed these horrible players, he blew second round picks

He signed hedo
He traded Roy hibbert for half a season of jermaine penal

He stood pat while bosh bolted

He fired Sam Mitchell at 8-9

He signed Landry fields Jose Calderon and bargnani to outrageous deals

He gave kleiza 5 mill a year and Amir Johnson 6 mill a year

He drafted bum ass Terrance ross

y'all should've watched the raptors broadcast. he basically said bargnani sucked because the rest of the team's performance was not up to par...threw the entire team under the bus. he also said they won too many games last year. he said the team was talented enough, just that they're not focused. what a complete idiot.

if his dad wasn't an exec, colangelo would be selling stereos and used cars.
