In all honesty i never had to do this, the integrity of my work was always enough for journalists, forum members and fans alike to support me. Usually if you have some sort of story to tell, or a great concept, people will back you. My albums on here ALWAYS got excellent support and got upped (without me having to up it) even back on 
i put up a demo and they stickied it again because of the integrity of my work.
Being different, having good music and presenting it in a way thats relatable and having the quality to match it is how i got a my little following.
