One of the least known of the Arellano Felix family, said to be removed from the business, murdered at a children's party in Cabo, last night, reports state the gunmen was wearing a clown suit.

At about 8:00 PM this Friday, a man close to 57 years old was executed in a family party in a place known as Ocean House, which is a garden palapa near the ocean used to celebrate parties on the tourist corridor of Los Cabos, close to El Tule bridge, about 6 miles from San Jose del Cabo.

Even though State authorities have not confirmed that it is indeed Francisco Rafael Arellano Felix, the oldest brother of the Arellano Felix family, it has been confirmed by national media on the supposed identification of one of his sons.
The execution took place when more than 100 people (among them several children), were enjoying a party entertained by the Sinaloan musical groups "Mimosa" and "Los Toritos". Witness reports indicate that suddenly a man dressed as a clown walked towards the party and mere meters from the main door approached the man believed to be Francisco Arellano Felix, shooting him first in the head, and then, while laying on the floor, twice in the chest. The aggressor quickly escaped the scene in a SUV awaiting for him outside. Moments later, most of the guests abandoned the place.

It'd be a mistake, and miscalculation to think that because of this story, Mexico, Los Cabos in particular is any more or less safe then it was on Thursday. This is noteworthy, for who it was, and the cinematic quality of a quietly retired don living comfortably, only to end up like Carlito at the end, and the darkly humorous twist of a clown actually carrying out the killing, third, because Cabo is a low violence, safe haven, though everyone in the business parties there from Sinaloa, or Baja.

Money Laundering and The Drug Trade: The Role of the Banks
Posted by: Contributing Author in Breaking News 8 hours ago

Mexico is in the grip of a murderous drug war that has killed over 150,000 people since 2006. It is one of the most violent countries on earth. This drug war is a product of the transnational drug trade which is worth up to $400 billion a year and accounts for about 8% of all international trade.

The American government maintains that there is no alternative but to vigorously prosecute their zero tolerance policy of arresting drug users and their dealers. This has led to the incarceration of over 500,000 Americans. Meanwhile the flood of illegal drugs into America continues unabated.

One thing the American government has not done is to prosecute the largest banks in the world for supporting the drug cartels by washing billions of dollars of their blood stained money. As Narco sphere journalist Bill Conroy has observed banks are ”where the money is” in the global drug war.

HSBC, Western Union, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase&Co, Citigroup, Wachovia amongst many others have allegedly failed to comply with American anti-money laundering (AML) laws.

The Mexican drug cartels have caught the headlines again and again due to their murderous activities. The war between the different drug cartels and the war between the cartels and government security forces has spilled the blood of tens of thousands of innocent people. The drug cartels would find it much harder to profit from their murderous activity if they didn’t have too big to fail banks willing to wash their dirty money.

That was no clown. He was an assassin.

Where were the bodyguards? Maybe, it was an inside hit.

Adding to the cimenaesque quality of it all, the shooters, who are up to three now, are said to have arrived, and escaped, by boat, from Sinaloa, which is probably a 90 mile straight shot across the Sea of Cortez. That's movie worthy in itself almost....

Obviously his own people set this up. How can a hitman run up on a boss, give him the work and then there is no kind of retaliation from armed security or some sort. He just shoots a boss and gets away like la dee da?

Its so demonic, friends.

Francisco Rafael was said to be retired from the family, and was living comfortably in retirement, usually murders in the same organization would be fear of replacement or along those lines, his nephew and sister are said to run what remains, these days. I doubt he was going to make a play to grab power. This was either the end of a somewhat uneasy alliance, or an attempt to, or a settling of scores from a long time ago. The fact that the killers came from, and escaped back to Sinaloa, is pretty telling, of it's professional nature and likely those responsible.
