Honestly, I have a hard time remembering what happened when at AEW PPVs. They are usually very good shows but there's not enough to differentiate them from one another aesthetically or thematically for me to have a good memory on them. The closest is Forbidden Door because it's a co-branded event or even ALL IN because that's going to be a stadium show. I actually remember more about the Grand Slam TV events because of the setting or the Blood and Guts specials.

With WWE it's easy for their major shows because WrestleMania is the spectacle, Royal Rumble has the Rumble match and SummerSlam is well in the Summer Lol.

AEW should make the PPVs have more of a theme. WCW had Starrcade as the end of the year big event and Halloween Havoc and The Great American Bash.

You remember what happened at SumerSlam 3-4 years ago?

the buzz of All Out 2021 was some shyt I ain't felt in wrestling in a LONG time

hard to tell if AEW will reach that again
That's a near unprecedented situation that creates a buzz that's almost impossible to manufacture.

One of the most well-liked and popular wrestlers in history (or at least of his era) that left the industry in his prime at age 33 for nearly 8 years returns for his first match after fans have begged for years for him to come back.

I probably didn't see like half these, or at least don't remember seeing them. I was a pretty sporadic ROH/NXT/AEW viewer around the time AEW debuted. I'd watch it every week for a little bit then go months on end not watching any at all. Haven't been what I would call a regular viewer of AEW since CM Punk returned. I was such a casual viewer before CM Punk's return that it would take something pretty unique for me to remember it.

So of the ones I can actually remember watching....
  1. All Out 2021 - Had high quality matches up and down the card AND massive moment
  2. Forbidden Door 2022 - Only thing it was missing was the massive moments All Out 2021 had
  3. Revolution 2023 - Three matches that will be on the list of AEW Match of the YEar contenders. Lacked the depth of quality wrestling that the above two had though.
  4. Revolution 2022 - I feel like the average match quality here was much higher than Full Gear 2021
  5. Full Gear 2021 - I think this one gets overrated a bit, there were three pretty mid matches
  6. Full Gear 2022 - Women's matches were mid to bad like usual (other than Hayter vs. Storm, which was great); but everything else is good to great.
  7. Double or Nothing 2023 - I thought this was better than what the average consensus seems to be. Not at the level we've come to expect out of AEW though
  8. Double or Nothing 2022 -This one REALLY dragged. Like first 8 matches were skippable, last 4 were good to great
  9. All Out 2022 - Show peaked midway through with Swerve in Our Glory vs. The Acclaimed and there were more average or below matches than good matches. CM Punk's tirade and the brawl overshadowed what was a good show
Remember watching but can't remember enough to rank it
  • Double or Nothing 2019 - I definitely remember watching Cody vs. Dustin, but everything else I am drawing blanks on from the card
  • All Out 2019 - somehow I remember that Crackle Barrel sponsored a match lol
Other comments
  • Fight for the Fallen 2019 - holy shyt this card is complete ass. Shawn Spears, Jimmy HAvoc, Joey Janela, Brandi Rhodes, The Bunny, Dark Order, Angelico, Jack Evans, Kip Sabian, and CIMA on a PPV card??
  • All Out 2020 - JFC and here I thought Fight for the Fallen was a bad card. They held a match in a dental office and that somehow was apparently a good bit better than the worst match of the night, which looks like one of the worst PPV matches ever?? :hhh:

Koalabama and the Cosmos
Accurate list for me. All Out III was Dub's "Starrcade 85", "WM17", and "Barely Legal 97". Probably the most cohesive Khan booked event ever. Dude did that shyt :wow:

Looking back, even though 2019 Dub was a national treasure, it was a fukking mess and a half. Weirdly booked and undercooked. 2020 era Dub events were miss and hit, but 2021 hit wayyyy different from the rest.

Khan had me convinced that it was pure Columbian and not Kenzo Fentanyl garbage.

Full Gear 19 was a strong first PPV of the Dynamite era. All Out 21 was easily their most memorable show between Punk, Bucks vs Lucha Bros, MJF/Jericho, and all the returns. Most AEW PPVS have been good, with good match quality, but not really memorable.

I skipped the last 2 AEW PPVs. Last one I ordered was Full Gear 22. It was a decent show too, the storylines/feuds have just been so boring lately. BCC and JAS have both been terrible stables.
