Raging Bull vs Taxi Driver

What's the general consensus of these classic flicks. I'm comparing them because it's two classics made by Scorsese featuring De Nero in arguably his two best roles. Both were nominated for film of the year. De Nero was nominated for both roles and won with Raging Bull. De Nero learned to box and gained 50 pounds at one point just for his role in Raging Bull and he drove a taxi for several months to get his role down in Taxi Driver. So which film do you guys got, which performance was De Nero better as ?

Raging Bull is a classic but I gotta take Taxi Driver. From De Nero's performance to the back drop of gritty grimey 1970's NYC, one of my favorites of all time.

I think Raging Bull had a better supporting cast, but both are classic.

For me no question about it, Taxi Driver all the way. Its just too grimey, gritty, dirty and weird to not prefer it. Raging Bull, to me, gets very dull towards the end, the 3 rd act not much is going on, just deniro all fat being obnoxious. while Taxi Driver just gets better and better. Probably my favorite scorcese flick along with goodfellas and mean streets. Raging bull, imo, is overrated. Good movie but over praised.

both absolute classics. both are perfect examples of why deniro is one of the best actors of all time. they are agruably the two movies where deniro is at his best and show his range as an actor.
