It's between Wu-Tang, Public Enemy and NWA for best group ever imo, so trust this isn't at all a diss thread. However, a lot of street nikkas wasn't fukking with that Kung-Fu/different sounding shyt. Rae and Ghost were the street element. They talked about the real life drug dealings, the poverty all that extra grimey shyt that nikkas dealt with on a daily. nikkas getting shot, stabbed, drug wars etc...

while we're on topic, I have a love-hate relationship with the street mentality.

On one hand, real hip hop is so intertwined with the streets that one can never hate on the streets. A lot of golden era rappers wouldn't exist if it wasn't for some street dude funding their demos or giving them shows etc. The whole look of rappers for the longest period came from the fashion street nikkas were rocking. Even the hard attitude and personalities. Hip hop as we know it owes a lot to the streets.

On the other hand, some street dudes are the dumbest and most backward nikkas in the world. And have no creativity. To them, if it aint about bussin guns, it's irrelevant. which is stupid as fukk, because hip hop was created specifically for people to get out of the streets and put their minds to other shyt.

I remember some comment on Youtube about Ghostface's "Childs Play". A dude was saying he thought the song was aight, but he wished Ghost had used to beat to talk about street shyt instead. Like that beat is perfect for talking about cooking and stickups. And I'm thinking: 'what?!'

No wonder the suburbs got bored of the street shyt.

yh Rae and Ghost had them street stories but at the end of the day the whole of the Wu was connected to the streets. Lowkey U-God had staten island on lock and RZA was the one who created the connection for the rest of the Wu to sell drugs out of state in Ohio

Can It Be All so Simple remix was based on Ghost getting shot in Ohio when RZA introduced the wu to out of state dealings.

i disagree.

before you were able to disassemble the wu-tang you got them as one piece

it was street from the step

this came out in 92. you are talking about 95 which was three years later

also ghost and rae always used hella samples on they shyt.

if you are talking about post 911 then i probably still couldnt agree with you.

ghostface went over nikkaz heads with shyt. all they hear is mermaids and spongebob.

i agree ghost and rae kept the W alive but not what your saying

Childs Play is legit one of the top 5 creative tracks i ever heard and still dudes wont put it up there because they prefer mindless street stories

They all street dudes, I know that. But that's not the point. When they started breaking into doing their solo shyt, Rae and Ghost were the drug dealing rappers out the Wu so fans gravitated towards them.

Meth wasn't a rapping about the drug game heavy like that at all, ODB wasn't at all, GZA wasn't. And those were the other ones to drop around the same time frame as Rae and Ghost (1994-1996)

Please stop generslizing black people. Smdh

I know a hell of a lot of black folk who like some wu members were big kunfu heads esp coming from that era where we watched the old classics. Stop fronting and speaking for a race when expressing personal opinions.

So street nikkaz was only drawn to drug talk and can't relate to anything else? :snoop:

The other members aren't street cuz they weren't on the drug talk?

ODB wasn't a street nikka :heh:

Atrocious posting

1994-1996 what I'm talking about. When they all went into their solo shyt. Meth obviously was the most popular all around but street nikkas really moved towards Rae and Ghost as they separated themselves based off content

where did I generalize black people? Seems like you're the one doing it. I said STREET nikkaZ. Period. Any race, color, cred. Street nikkas fukked with Rae and Ghost more because of what they rapped about.

And who said they other members weren't street street guys? again you're just adding shyt I never said once. I never said anything about their lives in the streets, I'm talking merely what they RAPPED about. Not what they did in real life.

I hear that but you shouldnt rate certain tracks higher because more dudes are fukking with the street material

the reason why less people fukked with RZA and GZA, even Ghostface solo music is probably because they didnt understand the message they was trying to bring people in Wu-Forever ... theyre music had a MUCH MUCH DEEPER meaning than what was in Rae and Ghost tracks.

there was a UNIVERSAL message that Wu Tang were bringing that went over ALOT of peoples heads and so they only paid attention to the street stories instead
