Pink reveals she is raising her children gender neutral | Daily Mail Online
Pink is raising her children to be gender-neutral, she has now revealed.
The singer, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, said she did not want her daughter Willow, six, and 11-month-old son Jameson to be defined by traditional gender roles as they live in a 'label-less household'.
The 38-year-old also revealed that Willow had told her she wants to marry an African woman when she grows up, while hilariously explaining that the tot informed her she plans to stay with her parents when she meets her 'wife'.
'We are a very label-less household,' the star , who is married to motorcycle racer Carey Hart, 42, told The People. 'Last week Willow told me she is going to marry an African woman. I was like: "Great, can you teach me how to make African food?"
'And she's like: "Sure mama, and we are going to live with you while our house is getting ready."'
Speaking in August at the MTV VMAs, Pink paid emotional tribute to her daughter. The singer accepted her Video Vanguard Award by sharing a story about body image and the challenges of raising a young girl.
Pink recalled how Willow had told her, 'I’m the ugliest girl I know' before adding that she thought she looked 'like a boy with long hair.'
But the singer countered by telling her adorable daughter, 'you're beautiful' along with some sage advice.
She said: 'When people make fun of me they say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I’m too outspoken. Do you see me growing my hair? Do you see me changing my body? Do you see my selling out arenas all over the world?'
She went on to add: 'Baby girl, we don’t change. We take the gravel in the shell and make a pearl. We help other people to change, so they can see all kinds of beauty.'
The star ended her impassioned speech with a message to her daughter, who was in the audience: 'And you my darling girl are beautiful and I love you.'
Pink married the professional motocross racer in 2006, which was five years after they met at the 2001 X Games. The two announced they were expecting their first child on The Ellen Show back in 2010.
Last December the happy couple welcomed baby Jameson into the world. Grammy-winner Pink released her debut album in 2000 and recently dropped a new single, What About Us.
She released her seventh album, Beautiful Trauma, on October 13.
