Quick question about LOTR.

Saw the Hobbit, so i'm rewatching the lotr series. I have a question.

Who exactly are/were Aragorn's parents? Was his dad the guy that sliced the ring off of the black dude in the beginning?

Aragorn was the last living heir of Isildur (the guy that cut the ring off Sauron's hand). His father was Arathorn and his mother was Gilraen. They could make a whole trilogy about his family. His pops got shot in the eye by an arrow when he was out hunting orcs so Aragorn never knew him.
