Why did Tony lie to Chris about the policeman that shot his father?

Who was the next one to lead after the last episode when tony was murdered?

Why did nobody ever make a spinoff? So many ways to do that.

as for question 1 - in the same if not the next episode, theres a scene with tony talking to melfi. he tells her that he's started "bonding" chris to him

he was basically trying to make him a perfect soldier. loyal, unflinching, unquestioning. if it wasn't for the drugs, thats what he woulda gotten.

question 2 - with sil being in the hospital, i would first say paulie, but i don't know. he wasn't earning like that, and he didn't really have the respect. if i had to put some money, maybe patsy parisi. he ran off into the woods firing back when Sil got shot. he was a pretty good earner based on what we saw. and he was getting closer to Tony with his son dating Meadow

can't call it for #3. some things are just better left alone.

I don't think Tony lied. The cop's reaction to Chris' questions("...was he a friend of yours?") proved he was the killer.

I took that whole scene at face value. The cop killed dikkie but was allowed to live because he was "useful". And anyway, Tony probably wasn't in the life at that point so there was nothing he could do about it. When the cop retired that meant he was in no position the help the mob anymore. So Tony finally had him clipped.

It's how these guys operate. Remember that story Johnny Sack tells about Carmine in S6? Someone in Carmine's crew wanted someone else dead because he was fukking his wife, but Carmine said no because the wife fukker was a good earner. Then eight years later the guy gets a call from Carmine saying the could finally kill the man who was fukking his wife. He had stopped being such a good earner.

I think it's this, and also Tony bonding Chris to himself as @smoove157 said. You got dirt on me, but I got dirt on you. If I go down we all go down.

What a fukking tragedy. Chris went from a dumb kid to a liability to a very smart, effective right hand man until the relapse. The way the squad grinded him down day after day with the insults and vices in his face...god damn. I've been rewatching S6 and man it's painful seeing all the mistakes play out. Just a few changes and things would have been different. But that's the point. They're all flawed, mentally ill, etc. Any small change isn't gonna happen, this is who they are, and the culture they're slaves to

Why did Tony lie to Chris about the policeman that shot his father?

Who was the next one to lead after the last episode when tony was murdered?

Why did nobody ever make a spinoff? So many ways to do that.
Question 1:

Tony and the crew used murder to instill loyalty and commitment. Tony was lying and Chris figured it out. In s6 Tony asked Bobby to do the same thing, knowing Bobby was innocent and had never killed anyone. In another episode Chris and Paulie begin feuding over paying the dinner bill, which actually began over Chris making fun of Paulie for fukking up the Russian hit. They later make up after murdering the waiter together. In fact many of the bonding experiences with the crew was over murder. Tony figured if Chris thought he did him that favor of avenging his father's murder, Chris would focus more and put the life over everything (drugs). He figured wrong.

Question 2:

Probably Paulie. Butchie wanted the top guys killed and wanted to do business with whoever was left. More than likely that's either Paulie or Patsy. Perhaps even Albert Barese, but more than likely Paulie.

Question 3: I think Chase wanted to do a movie but James death threw all that out of the window. Plus Chase probably didnt want to sully the shows reputation.

undetermined if he lied to Chrissy but as Chris said “it doesn’t matter...” meaning if Tony lied about it he had a reason to

lead? Patsy or paulie as a titular boss but the family would be in the process of being absorbed by NY. Or the Barese crew which was the biggest crew in the fam

spinoff would do #’s. The movie supposed to be a prequel but a spinoff series would be much more welcomed.

No better example of that than Tony B & Chris having a big brother moment while digging up and crushing the remains of Chrissy's first body.

James Gandolfini wanted to make a 'Sopranos' movie before he died

Chase & Gandolfini were both ready to do a movie after getting some time away and their batteries recharged. James said he wanted Big p*ssy back so they were gonna try to spin his death as one of Tony's hallucinogenic dreams.

On 1: season 3 also ended with a rift between Chris/Tony. Chris resented Tony for protecting Jackie Jr, which came to a head when Tony refused to allow Chris to pop him.

Chris and Tony's relationship is, for me, the heart of the show. Even moreso than Tony and his family.
