This:

"Cephalus may be no philosopher, but he’s right about one thing: telling the truth must be part of any acceptable conception of justice."

Also can someone explain the Noble Lie to me

Thanks :sadcam:

Plato's arguing that lying is a necessary part of governance. The philosopher king will need to tell his people noble lies (you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps and become president, you can be an astronaut when you grow up) from time to time.

Think about it in relation to the allegory of the cave. If you were the philosopher and all those people chained up looking at the cave wall were dependent on you for their conception of reality, what would you tell them?

If you need anything else, let me know brah!

True Story:

I once wrote a paper on Plato's Republic in my college 400 level Philosophy class stating that Plato and that book was racist as f*ck.

I got an B, but my teacher said I was way off mark. LOL.
