I can't even count how many times I've been told "You're pretty for a black chick" or "You can't be all black, you don't look it! You gotta be mixed" :childplease:

Funny enough, I've heard this almost exclusively from black men, so my question to the ladies is, have you encountered this? And for the fellas, why say ignorance like this? What do you hope to accomplish?

i think you would be better off asking the people who actually say things like that to you, not all of us think like that. It goes both ways as well, I had a female tell me i couldn't be all black because I have really clear skin and she never saw any bumps on my face :what:

I'm more interested in how you responded when you're addressed with these words?

You are the solution to statements you believe are a problem/bothersome.

Knowing that I can't educate the masses and deducing their statements either come from a cultural place, personal experience or otherwise, I just tell them I'm not flattered, and even offended that they'd think and say those things. But after a while how many speeches do I need to give to try to enlighten them, I'm just gonna start saying F it and keep it moving.

Myself. fukk 12(1)!
Yeah, I've had someone tell me I was cute for a dark-skinned chick.

I gave him the :childplease: and went about my business; shyt like that doesn't deserve a response.

Has nothing to do with giving speeches. If you want to know why an individual stated something, the only one that can truly give you an answer is the mouth the emitted the words. Sure, we can give you insight, but unless we have the same exact mindset as those you encounter, answering genuinely, little if anything is obtained.

You also have ask yourself why does this bother you, especially if you're not interested in those who feel the need to express said words.

guys i know who say this usually are just trying to game. they'll sometimes use this on white chicks too if she looks like the type who wants to look exotic. like "you're all white? damn girl, you look so exotic like you have some latina/mediterranean/whatever in you. it's really "unique" or something like that and then gauge their reaction.

same principle on black chicks except that they use typical black mixes. they either bite or they don't. Once upon a time, I used to use that type of shyt but only in chatrooms, never in real life cause i probably couldn't pull it off live

Lol I had no idea you were a girl. No one has ever told me that I'm pretty for a dark skinned girl before but I've had guys ask me if I am mixed. I just say no, I look like a regular black girl so when someone asks me this I'm like :what:

This was my initial thought, in knowing females it's more readily accepted coming from a man.

If a man senses you're an individual who fishes for compliments, they'll state something they believe is flattering or will inflate a woman's ego. A female will think: OMG I must look exotic or beautiful for him to say that. The game/ploy thickens from that point forward.

Men usually have a knack as to what they say to certain females, and how they'll respond. What are you projecting that men use lame game/compliments to gain your attention? Only you know the answer....

I get all of that, either they really are astounded black women can look a number of different ways aesthetically or they're just tryna gas your head up. I'm thinking what kinda woman would hear that and be flattered? Like "wow I'm not only pretty, but for a black girl at that!" lol that's really what I was getting at.

I don't know you personally and typing is rather impersonal, so I'm trying my best not to be offensive.

What I will state is: look at the way you asked and worded your question. It comes across arrogantly, void of seriousness. Your initial question may appear to many as: I'm so beautiful men think I'm not black, how silly of them! Anyone else go through this? If so lets sit and talk about ourselves/looks and how ridiculous men are.

I don't have experience with men coming at me sideways or as if I'm an airhead. My aura wards off BS within a 50 feet radius :hmm:

Again, sometimes it's not what's being said but what you project.
